Six seniors and a world of talent for the Lady Horns proved too much for the for the Lady Cats of Sunray. Lockney would use a half court defense and six very talented Senior players to hold the Lady Cats to only 17 points in the first half and only 19 points in the second half. The Lady Horns will advance to the regional quarterfinals Tuesday night against the No. 1 ranked Canadian at Canyon High School.
“I thought we did a great job in our half court defense." Lockney head coach Lisa Schumacher said “I just felt like we were in the driver’s seat.”
The Lady Horns would out score the Lady Cats of Sunray 14-2 in the second quarter and with only 5.2 seconds left in the first quarter Malory Johnson’s in bounds pass to senior Lindsey Moerbe would set Moerbe up for sixty five foot three pointer, and she drained it to end the first quarter up by 3. “Oh My Goodness, I had no idea the shot was going to go in until it hit the backboard” said Moerbe. It was in the locker room at the intermission that Moerbe and her team mates said “We are not letting down, Let’s go!”

Lockney would use the height of Malory Johnson and Courtney Williams under the basket to out rebound the Lady Cats 39-14 and

down the three point shooting of Sunray. “They are a great outside shooting ball team and we held them to only three, three pointers all night.” said Schumacher.
“We could not relax in the second half” Said Schumacher. “We had to come back out in the second half and be very focused and that is exactly what we did.” Four Lady Horns would finish the night in double digits including Moerbe who scored 10, Bethany Wilson with 12, Malory Johnson 11, and Courtney Williams with 10.
