The Whirlwinds faced league leader Tulia at Tulia, March 31st. The Winds managed 14 impressive hits off of Tulia’s ace pitcher, however, the Whirlwinds failed to convert all of them into runs. The Winds left a total of 10 base runners stranded, and a final score of 12 – 5 with Tulia on top.
Randy Lerma pitched the first 3 innings. He faced 18 batters, struck out 2 and allowed 6 runs. Joseph Segura pitched a partial inning. He faced 4 batters and allowed 3 runs. Jose Martinez finished the game pitching the final 2 ½ innings. Martinez faced 13 batters, struck out 2 and allowed 3 runs.
Senior, Colton Covington led all hitters. Covington was 4-4 with one RBI on the day. Joe Luis Suarez was 2-4 with one RBI. Joseph Segura was also 2-4 at the plate with a single and a double. Troy Morales, Anthony Segura and Manuel Delafuente each added 1 RBI.
